Our Procyon 26 series of proxy appliances is a 1U form factor server with three 36 GB or 74 GB hard disks, 4 GB or 8 GB of RAM and dual gigabit ethernet ports. Like all of our Procyon appliances, the 26 provides all the tools you need to manage and monitor web usage, maximize bandwidth and minimize risk, all from an easy to use web-based GUI.

Applications

The Procyon 26 series of appliances is designed for large offices, schools, and service providers with 1000 to 4000 users and 24 megabits per second of Internet bandwidth usage.

Redundant Power and Cooling

The Swell Technology Procyon 26 has dual redundant power supplies and hot-swappable cooling fans. This insures that no matter what happens, the Procyon will soldier on. Power supplies and cooling fans are two of the most likely sources of trouble in a server, but when they are redundant and swappable, a failure doesn't mean downtime for your users.

High Performance

Like a well-tuned sports car, the Procyon 26 is designed for performance. It has three 15,000 RPM Ultra 320 SCSI disks, with a blistering 3.2 ms seek time. The processor is one or two fast Xeon processors. With up to 16 GB of fast ECC memory, the 26 can offer extremely low latency and high throughput.

Heartbeat and Failover

If you're shooting for five 9's reliability, a single server, even one of the caliber of the Procyon 26, just isn't enough. With built-in heartbeat and failover features, you can operate a hot spare, or team your proxies with a WCCP capable router or load balancer for load sharing and fault tolerance.

Cluster Management

Combine all of your Procyon servers into a single cluster, and monitor their performance from a central interface. Configuration files can be copied automatically to all of your servers, and services on all servers can be started, stopped and reconfigured from any system in the cluster.

Our comprehensive web-based interface makes all common tasks simple and quick. All of our tools are integrated into a common and consistent interface.

The Procyon server line has a long history of reliable performance. Some of our servers are still in use after five years! But these proxy servers do have moving parts in them, and as you know, anything with moving parts sometimes fails despite best intentions. So, in order to take the worry out of owning a Procyon, we'll gladly fix anything that breaks at no cost for two years from date of purchase. Not only that, we'll also pay for priority shipping both ways, so repairs can be made quickly and it won't cost you a cent. When you buy an appliance, even one priced as low as the Procyon, shouldn't you have the luxury of not worrying about hardware failure? Yeah, we think so too.

Unlimited Support for Two Years

With the web-based GUI interface and reliable software in a Procyon, we doubt you'll need a lot of help to get things running. But we don't want you to feel you have nowhere to go for help. For two years, you can email us anytime day or night, including holidays, and expect a prompt and useful reply. You can also call our emergency support number and you'll reach a Procyon expert immediately. You won't be routed to a useless technical support center staffed by people who can only follow a script. You'll talk to the same people who developed your Procyon (so go easy on that number after hours-save it for real trouble that needs quick solutions).
