Our Procyon 12 series of proxy appliances is a 1U form factor server with dual 80 GB or 160 GB hard disks, 1 GB or 2 GB of RAM and dual gigabit ethernet ports. Like all of our Procyon appliances, the 12 provides all the tools you need to manage and monitor web usage, maximize bandwidth and minimize risk, all from an easy to use web-based GUI.

Applications

The Procyon 12 series of appliances is designed for mid-sized offices, branch and remote offices, schools, and service providers with 100 to 1000 users and 6 megabits per second of Internet bandwidth usage. Dual mirrored system disks provide fault tolerance.

Protocols

The Procyon 12 series provides proxy and cache services for HTTP, FTP, Gopher and WAIS protocols, and proxy services for HTTPS. It supports both ICP and Cache Digests protocols for integrating multiple web caching proxies, as well as WCCPv1, CARP, and HTCP. Support for all common network management utilities is provided via SNMP protocol support.

Web-Based GUI

Our comprehensive web-based interface makes all common tasks simple and quick. All of our tools are integrated into a common and consistent interface. It allows delegation of duties to multiple administrators, safely, via an advanced access control system.

Authentication

All common authentication protocols are supported, including NTLM, and Basic and Digest HTTP standard authentication. Directory servers are also supported, including Active Directory and LDAP.

Access Controls

Extremely flexible access control list features are available to allow for fine-grained control based on user name, client address, destination, time of day, and much more. Prepared white lists and black lists can be installed to provide content filtering, and new lists can be generated manually or automatically using provided tools.

Reporting

The Procyon 12 includes extensive reporting facilities at no extra cost, providing a complete picture of user behavior and proxy performance. Both real-time and long-term reporting functionality is available.

The Procyon server line has a long history of reliable performance. Some of our servers are still in use after five years! But these proxy servers do have moving parts in them, and as you know, anything with moving parts sometimes fails despite best intentions. So, in order to take the worry out of owning a Procyon, we'll gladly fix anything that breaks at no cost for two years from date of purchase. Not only that, we'll also pay for priority shipping both ways, so repairs can be made quickly and it won't cost you a cent. When you buy an appliance, even one priced as low as the Procyon, shouldn't you have the luxury of not worrying about hardware failure? Yeah, we think so too.

Unlimited Support for Two Years

With the web-based GUI interface and reliable software in a Procyon, we doubt you'll need a lot of help to get things running. But we don't want you to feel you have nowhere to go for help. For two years, you can email us anytime day or night, including holidays, and expect a prompt and useful reply. You can also call our emergency support number and you'll reach a Procyon expert immediately. You won't be routed to a useless technical support center staffed by people who can only follow a script. You'll talk to the same people who developed your Procyon (so go easy on that number after hours-save it for real trouble that needs quick solutions).
